Okay so when I first pulled out the brush I genuinely thought I'd bought the wrong thing. It's this wide fan shape and I had no idea how to use it. First attempt was a disaster — I got mascara basically on my eyelid. But I watched one tutorial, tried again the next morning, and suddenly everything clicked. The fan shape coats every single lash in one swipe in a way that a normal brush just doesn't.
The formula is really black straight away too. Not that sad dark-grey that some mascaras do. Proper black, first coat.
Once you get the hang of the brush (give it three or four days, I promise it's worth it), this mascara is genuinely one of the best I've tried. My lashes look fuller and more spread out, not clumped together into spikes like some volumising mascaras do. It's more of a "your lashes but better" look than a dramatic falsies effect — which is exactly what I want for school.
Wear-wise it's solid. I've had full days with no smudging, no flaking. I did a sports class in it once and it survived. It's not waterproof but it holds up better than you'd expect. Takes off easily at night with micellar water.
Once you get past the weird brush situation this is a seriously good mascara. It gives a fuller, more spread-out lash look than anything else I've tried at this price point, and it just stays put all day. If you want something a bit different from your standard wand mascara and you're willing to practise for a few days — absolutely get this. 4.1/5.
